Job Description

  • Directly contribute to the design, build, deployment and transition of cyber security solutions aligned with recognized best practice, Defence security policies, principles and frameworks.

  • Work with internal and external technical teams to ensure integration and operation of cyber security tools with all ICT services in the Defence stack.

  • Conduct set-to-work activities and support remediation of cyber toolsets on Defence systems.

  • Author, review, maintain and contribute to Solution Designs, Standard Operating Procedures, As-Built-As-Configured and other required documentation artefacts.


Required skills and experience

  • Experience working as a Security Technician within the Defence environment.

  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and supporting cyber toolsets on large scale, deployable systems operating in low bandwidth, geographically dispersed environments.

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in applying cyber-security controls and practices aligned to zero-trust architecture principles.

  • Strong knowledge and experience deploying and integrating Carbon Black Application Control, FortiClient/FortiEMS and Ivanti Device and Application Control.

  • Strong knowledge of security principles including Zero trust model, Tiered model, Security boundaries.

  • Ability to work independently and part of a team, good communication, organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.


Desirable skills and experience

  • Knowledge and experience of Defence systems.

  • Knowledge and experience of the security threat landscape and related security mitigations.

  • Knowledge of the following frameworks and standards:

  • Australian Information Security Manual (ISM)

  • Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF)

  • Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)

  • US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
