Job Description

  • Support the design, build, and deploy of complex network solutions.

  • Create, update and review all associated network documentation.

  • Provide Network SME advice to the customer, and internal and external stakeholders to facilitate project definition, system architecture and process improvement.

  • Create Knowledge Articles on key processes and procedures for network devices and systems that can be used across the service desk and wider community of IT support staff.

  • Identify innovative service improvements that provide additional value to network solutions.

  • Work with peers in a highly collaborative and high-performing team environment.


Required skills and experience

  • Experience as a Network/Gateway engineer.

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in Defence Deployed systems.

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in networking technologies including:

    • Routing.

    • Switching.

    • IPSec, VPN, VXLAN, OSPF, BGP, MPLS TE.

    • Next Gen firewalls.

    • Voice Over IP.

    • Enterprise wireless LAN infrastructure.

    • Network segmentation.

    • Network Access Control.

    • Network telemetry protocols such as NetFlow, SNMP, etc.

  • Strong knowledge of Industry standard frameworks (e.g. TOGAF).

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in network automation using NSO and Ansible.

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in Linux OS, shell scripting and Python.

  • Strong knowledge of Industry standard frameworks (e.g. TOGAF).


Desirable skills and experience

  • Knowledge and experience of Defence systems.

  • Demonstrated experience in the build and set to work of complex IT systems on board Navy ship platforms.

  • Experience working within or interoperating with the Defence Network environment.

  • Experience applying frameworks to architecture and solution design, including test and evaluation procedures.
